Many Uber and Lyft drivers have decided to temporarily stop using their apps at the Atlanta airport, causing disruptions during a peak holiday travel season. Rideshare drivers express their frustration with the companies they work for due to unfair wages, according to FOX 5 interviews.
The drivers initiated the shutdown at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 4 p.m. That marks the start of what is commonly referred to as peak travel hours.
The goal is to create a challenging experience for individuals in need of transportation from the airport. They aim to raise awareness among companies about the importance of providing better wages for drivers.
Drivers told FOX 5 they receive a fraction of the fare, often less than 50% and occasionally even less than 30%.
“I recently took a ride, and to my surprise, she mentioned that she paid $102 for a 40-minute ride.” I received $25, thanks to a $5 bonus! Lyft driver Debora Williams expressed. “It’s absolutely absurd.”
