Sofia Vergara Is Being Sued By Griselda’s Son Over New Netflix Show “Griselda”

The estate of the Colombian drug lord has filed a lawsuit against Netflix and Vergara on Jan. 17, seeking to halt the show’s release. They claim that their family’s image and likeness have been used without authorization.

Blanco’s son Michael is pursuing $100,000 in damages in Florida’s Miami-Dade County court. He claims that the show’s creators utilized his unreleased “artistic literary work” and his likeness to portray his and his mother’s life story without obtaining permission or giving credit.

Prior to the “Griselda” premiere, Newman mentioned to TODAY that facing a lawsuit from Blanco’s estate is to be expected in this line of work. He mentioned, “I had experience handling similar legal cases involving Pablo Escobar and his family while working on ‘Narcos.’ I typically don’t give them much consideration. It lacks a certain element of surprise.
