Two individuals have been apprehended and are currently in custody following a traffic stop conducted by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. During the operation, law enforcement officials successfully confiscated nearly 120 pounds of a substance believed to be a combination of fentanyl and cocaine.

While on their journey from Charlotte to Philadelphia, two individuals, one hailing from Mexico and the other from New Mexico, found themselves in a predicament. They were traveling in a tractor-trailer on I-77 when they were pulled over by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team (ICE) due to a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, the ICSO K-9 Groot detected the presence of narcotics in the tractor-trailer. Upon inspecting the vehicle, deputies discovered 120 lbs of a substance believed to be fentanyl combined with cocaine, estimated to be worth $3.75 million on the streets.
According to deputies, they discovered a significant amount of the drug, which could potentially have devastating consequences if it were to be consumed.
Both suspects are currently being detained on secured bonds totaling $3.5 million each.
