Mom Of Four Homeless After Saving Kids From Intruder

The Fort Worth woman who defended her rental home and her four daughters by shooting and killing an intruder shares her account of the incident exclusively with FOX 4’s Shaun Rabb.

A tragic incident claimed the life of a young 14-year-old boy. No charges have been filed by the police, and the case has been sent to a grand jury for further consideration.

Aleah Wallace explains that she acquired a firearm in order to safeguard her loved ones in response to a series of recent burglaries.

The other burglaries occurred during periods of absence. However, on two separate occasions on December 14th, an individual made attempts to gain entry.

“I was cleaning my living room sweeping my floor, and I heard my window start going back up. Wallace recalled. “So I went, and I stood in the hallway. And I could see him standing at the window, lifting it up. I just shot.”

A tragic incident occurred on the morning of December 14th, when gunshots took the life of 14-year-old Devin Baker. Devin was standing at the bedroom window of Wallace’s 8-year-old daughter at the time.

“It’s bothering me that he was a kid,” she said.

The incident occurred shortly after the police had departed from Wallace’s residence, following her 911 call regarding an attempted break-in at her duplex.

“I called them at 1:22 a.m. She talked for like 20 minutes. They did a report, took pictures of everything and then they left,” she recalled.

According to Wallace, she experienced four attempted burglaries prior to the most recent incident. In addition to everything else, she is now facing eviction.

“The apartments called and told me that I was not supposed to have a gun at all, even though I kept calling them and telling them somebody was breaking in. They told me I could not have a gun, and I have 30 days to vacate,” she said. “I feel like I’m back at square one. I was there for six years, and now I don’t know what to do.”

The case is being presented to a grand jury. Wallace emphasizes her intention of safeguarding her loved ones.

“I have four daughters. It’s just me and my four daughters that stay there. I just was protecting my daughters,” she said. “I’m devastated that he was 14. I hate that. I literally do. And I’m so sorry. But at that point, I had to think about my babies. I didn’t know he was 14 when he was on the other side of that window. All I knew was that somebody could come in and hurt me or my kids. That’s it.”

Wallace resided in subsidized housing, and it appears that there are no legal restrictions on residents of government-subsidized housing owning firearms. There were no signs displayed on the property indicating that either.

Wallace is worried that being evicted would make it difficult for her to secure alternative housing.
