Three Kids Aged 11, 12, And 16 Were Arrested By The FBI For Allegedly Robbing A Wells Fargo Bank In Houston

The three bank robbery suspects known as the “little rascals” have been apprehended and are currently in custody, as reported by FBI Houston.

The trio garnered attention when authorities posted on social media that they were sought after for their alleged involvement in a bank robbery at a Wells Fargo branch located on the North Freeway and West Road in the Greenspoint area.

At first, a witness informed officials that the boys seemed to be in the age range of 14 to 18. However, in the latest update on the arrest, the FBI has revealed that the individuals involved are 16, 12, and 11 years old.

“The age of the younger two, that’s quite uncommon for a bank robbery,” commented Mike Schneider, a retired juvenile district court judge, in an interview with ABC13. “It’s quite rare for me to witness something like this.”

Although the surveillance photos were released by FBI Houston, it is important to note that the case is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

As per the HCSO, the boys allegedly handed a note to a teller that contained threats. It was believed that they were armed, even though they did not brandish a weapon, and managed to escape with an undisclosed sum of money.

After the photos were made public, the HCSO began receiving tips from the public. The parents of two of the boys have come forward and positively identified them, according to the sheriff’s office. The third boy was apprehended by a law enforcement agency after being involved in a fight and identified. According to the sheriff’s office, law enforcement found a weapon and a unique item that can be seen in one of the photos.

The “little rascals” have been accused of committing robbery by threat, which is considered a second-degree felony.

“I couldn’t help but wonder if this lacked sophistication or if an adult was involved.” It’s quite common. “It is not uncommon for adult offenders to manipulate children into committing crimes due to the less severe punishments they may face,” Schneider explained.

The investigators have chosen not to disclose any information regarding potential involvement of others or the recovery of any cash.

Due to their status as minors, ABC13 has chosen to blur the initial photos, and the FBI has confirmed that their names and additional details will not be disclosed.

If the allegations are proven true, they may be subject to probation until they reach the age of 18 or juvenile prison until they reach the age of 19, as stated by a criminal defense attorney. According to him, it is unlikely that the 16-year-old will be certified as an adult.
